KINGSTON, Jamaica — Of the 290 respondents to a recent OBSERVER ONLINE poll, 70 per cent agreed with the Government's move to forcibly retake Venezuela's 49 per cent stake in State-owned oil refinery Petrojam.

The Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) led administration has been facing criticisms from the Opposition People's National Party (PNP) and members of the public over its decision to use legislative means to recover the shares from Venezuelan state-owned oil and natural gas company, PDV Caribe.

Thirty per cent (86) of the respondents disagreed with the move.

The Government said it will be moving ahead in spite of the criticisms, and will at the next sitting of the House of Representatives, table a Bill entitled, an 'Act to provide for the Compulsory Acquisition of the Shares held by PDV Caribe in Petrojam and for Connected Matters'.
