ST ANN, Jamaica — A St Ann man who was charged for the stabbing death his ex-girlfriend in Ocho Rios last year has pleaded guilty to murder.

Ryan Edwards pleaded guilty in the St Ann Circuit Court today and will be sentenced by presiding judge Dale Palmer on November 2.

Edwards was charged with murder after he reportedly fatally stabbed 21-year-old Alisa Garey who had moments earlier filed a complaint against him at the Ocho Rios police station.

Reports are that on Wednesday, December 14, 2016, Garey and her mother went to the police station to file a complaint against Edwards who had reportedly threatened her.

Garey was attacked by Edwards who stabbed her several times as she walked in the busy Ocho Rios. She was taken to the hospital where she was pronounced dead. Edwards, who was set upon by citizens, was rescued by the police and taken into custody.

Edwards is represented by attorney Nathan Morrison.
