BIRMINGHAM, England - The Jamaican track and field team management is hoping all 47 members of the team will be in the University of Birmingham camp by tomorrow, a full week after the start of the pre-Olympic training camp.

Given the “unique nature” of the timing of these Olympic Games and the number of meets going on all over Europe, Ludlow Watts, team manager for the Jamaican team here, said the situation “might not be as ideal” as they would have liked, to have everyone under the same roof at the same time.

Several members of the Jamaican Olympic team have been participating in several meets all over Europe, including Switzerland, England, Poland and elsewhere, and according to Watts, “we have people coming and going all the time.”

A number of athletes, including members of the MVP camp Asafa Powell, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, Melaine Walker and Brigitte Foster Hylton, are yet to turn up at the camp.

Some athletes, including triple jumper Kimberly Williams and sprint hurdler Andrew Riley, arrived on the first day, but then left for Monaco where they participated in a Diamond League meeting on Friday, while members of the Racers Camp, including Yohan Blake, also arrived on the first day before leaving to compete in Luzerne, Switzerland.

Others have arrived at other intervals with the blessings of the team management.
