ST ELIZABETH, Jamaica – A man is dead and three others are now nursing gunshot wounds following a shooting incident in the market in Santa Cruz, St Elizabeth late Monday.

Police have named the deceased as Oral Collins otherwise called 'Shabba', said to be in his late 20s and a resident of Santa Cruz.

Police said Collins was out on bail facing a charge of illegal possession of ammunition.

Reports are that about 10:45 pm Collins, who operated a small shop in the market, was at his place of business with friends when a voice shouted “police”. Immediately after that gunfire erupted.

Collins sustained gunshots to the chest and reportedly died on the spot.

Three others were rushed to hospital with bullet wounds to the thigh, buttocks and feet.
