One of 12 gunmen killed in shootout with St James police

ST JAMES, Jamaica— An unidentified man was shot dead during a shootout with police on Sean Crescent in Rose Heights, St James on Monday.

Reports from the Montego Bay police are that a team of officers responded to reports of gunmen seen along Sean Crescent about 2:00 pm.

The police said upon their arrival, they were engaged in a shoot out with about 12 heavily armed men.

After shooting subsided, a man was discovered with gunshot wounds and clutching a black and chrome Bursa 9mm pistol with a magazine containing six rounds, which were taken from him.

He was pronounced dead at hospital.

Investigations continue.
