KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Petroleum Corporation of Jamaica (PCJ) has donated $500,000 to Westwood High School to support the fundraising effort for the rebuilding of the institution's kitchen and dining room which were destroyed by fire in May of this year.

The contribution will assist the 135-year-old boarding school for girls as they aim to raise $150 million to re-establish the facilities.

The PCJ responded to an appeal from members of the Old Girls Association who are currently undertaking a fundraising drive. The donation was handed over recently when representatives from the Association and the school administration paid a courtesy call to the PCJ's Group General Manager, Winston Watson.

Principal of Westwood High School, Karen Francis said, “On behalf of the entire Westwood High School community including our Board of Directors, staff, students and our Old Girls Association, I would like to say a big thank you to the PCJ for making this donation towards our rebuilding initiative. We have a long way to go as we try to pick up the pieces and move forward and we appreciate your assistance.”
