PHOTO: Johnson Smith meets with new Canadian High Commissioner

KINGSTON, Jamaica — Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Senator Kamina Johnson Smith, today received the copy letters of introduction of Laurie Jane Peters, High Commissioner-designate for Canada to Jamaica,at the ministry's New Kingston location.

According to a release from the ministry today, Johnson Smith and High Commissioner Peters spoke to the historical friendship and strong cooperation between both countries, and affirmed their intention of building an even stronger partnership.

Among other areas discussed were: security cooperation; justice reform; trade; community development programmes; Canada's Feminist International Assistance Programme, Jamaica's Gender Equity Policy and the National Strategic Plan to Eliminate Violence against Women and disaster relief.
