PHOTOS: Riverton City Landfill fire

KINGSTON, Jamaica -- A fire, said to have started in an area adjacent to the Riverton City Landfill where used tyres are stored, sent thick black smoke across the Corporate Area Sunday morning.

According to the authorities the fire started about 7:00 am. Teams from the Jamaica Fire Brigade and the National Solid Waste Management Authority, throughout the day, worked to extinguish the blaze.
