KINGSTON, Jamaica — In an open letter to comrades, General Secretary of the People's National Party (PNP) Julian Robinson today called on members to support the party financially under an initiative which he says will build “a movement that puts the power in your hands!”

In his letter Robinson asked each comrade for an average of J$5,000 or US$40 per month.

“As we build the PNP of today, working to realise the vision of a Jamaica that works for all Jamaicans, and not just a few, one of the things we must do is shift the power dynamic in our country,” said Robinson.

“One area in which we must make this shift is in the funding of political parties. Traditionally only a few persons fund political parties in Jamaica. With this initiative, we want to build a movement that puts the power in your hands,” he added.

“We are asking for your support in making this vision a reality so that we can establish a stable and consistent source of funding for the party's operations and activities in the field.”

Robinson said that the donations will support building the party organisation; islandwide political education; and “dynamic communications”.

He told comrades that a one-time donation may be made via,jm or a standing order for monthly or quarterly donations may be made to the party at account number 651872, Scotiabank, Liguanea branch.
