Playwright Aston Cooke has died

KINGSTON, Jamaica— Jamaican play writer, actor and marketing guru Aston Cooke has died.

Preliminary reports are that Cooke was found dead in his St Andrew apartment this morning.

Cooke is one of the principals of Crown of Beauty Jamaica Limited, which owns theMiss Jamaica World franchise.

He is recipient of 10 national Actor Boy Awards for outstanding achievement in Jamaican theatre and an inductee to the Caribbean Hall of Fame for Arts and Culture.

Cooke also the served as Board Chairman of the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission during 2013 and 2016.
