Police kill man in Westmoreland

BRIGHTON, Westmoreland-The Westmoreland police yesterday shot and killed a man who was among a group that allegedly opened fire at a police party at Brighton in the parish.

The dead man has been identified as 20 year-old Janoy Glaze formerly of a Brighton, Westmoreland address.

Reports are that yesterday about 2:30 pm the police were on operation in the district when they spotted a group of four men.

Upon their approach, the men reportedly opened fire on the police who returned the fire hitting Glaze.

He was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead. The three other men made good their escape.

The police say they recovered a 9mm pistol loaded with 9 rounds in the incident.

INDECOM has commenced a probe into the incident.
