Police seize firearm on Burlington Avenue

KINGSTON, Jamaica— A Taurus 9mm pistol along with eleven 9mm rounds of ammunition was seized on Burlington Avenue in Kingston on Saturday, November 17, and a man arrested in connection to the seizure, the police are reporting.

Arrested is 46-year-old Dennis Norine of a Norbrook Drive, Kingston 8 address. He was charged with the offence illegal possession of firearm and ammunition.

Reports from the Half Way Tree Police are that lawmen were on patrol about 3:20 am when Norine and another who were on a motorcycle were signalled to stop. They disobeyed the command and sped off. Norine allegedly fell off the motorcycle when he was accosted, searched the weapon and ammunition was found on his person.

He was subsequently taken into custody and charged.
