KINGSTON, Jamaica — Two fishermen from White River in Portland, Desmond "Joel" Phillips and another whose name was given only as Quado, landed a 500 pound Marlin Monday afternoon, just off the coast of Port Antonio.
Phillips told the Observer that the marlin bit at about three o’clock and they landed it about fifty minutes later, close to four o'clock.
“We took it down by the old Marina (venue for the upcoming marlin tournament) and put it on the scale and it buck it,” an elated Phillips said. He added that the pair would be taking part in the marlin tournament.
The tournament will be held from October 21st to 27th later this month.
