KINGSTON, Jamaica —Jamaica's Tajay Gayle leapt 7.41m, which placed him ninth in the men's long jump at the Rabat Diamond League.

Gayle, who was third at Jamaica's Senior Championship, was trying to secure that World Championship qualifying mark of 8.15m that would have gotten him a seat onto that plane to London next month. He was way below his personal best of 8.00m and will have to try again.

The event was won by Rushwal Samaai of South Africa with a leap of 8.35m ahead of American Jarrion Lawson in a season's best 8.33m. Home boy and meet record holder Yahya Berrabah was third with 8.14m.
