Rapist gets 40 years

KINGSTON, Jamaica - Convicted rapist Neville Barnes was Tuesday sentenced in the Home Circuit Court to 40 years imprisonment for his deed.
Sentencing judge Justice Marjorie Cole-Smith scolded Barnes, telling him that what he did was awful.
Barnes was convicted last week by a seven-member jury panel for the 2005 rape of a woman at a Cherry Gardens, St Andrew home he had broken into.
The 37-year-old gardener had denied in an unsworn statement from the dock that he committed the offence.
He was found guilty of rape, burglary and larceny and indecent assault.
The convicted rapist’s DNA linked him to the crime.
