Reggae Boyz arrive in Mexico City, training session today

MEXICO CITY, Mexico – Merely hours after the last batch of players arrived in Mexico City last night, head coach Theodore Whitmore was able to complete his first team meeting with all 23 players here at the team’s base at the Radisson Paraiso Hotel a few minutes ago.

The players had breakfast at 9 o’clock this morning and after the 11:30 am (12:30 pm Jamaica time) team meeting, they headed for lunch at mid-day.

They are scheduled to depart the hotel at 4:00 pm for their first training session at the nearby Centro de Capacipicion, using field number one. The training session is slated for 4:30 pm.

Local based players Jermaine Hue, DuWayne Kerr, Alvas Powell and Andre Lewis, along with the technical and backroom staff led by Whitmore, and including Warren Barrett, goalkeeper coach, Andre Waugh, physical trainer, Dr Carlton Fraser, Norman Stone, equipment manager, Roy Simpson, manager, Nodley Wright, press officer and Bruce Gaynor, head of delegation, were the first batch to arrive on Sunday evening.

Donovan Ricketts, Je-Vaughn Watson, Jermaine Taylor and Ryan Johnson arrived next, followed by Jermaine Johnson, Nyron Nosworthy, Damion Stewart, Adrian Mariappa, Marvin Elliott, Joel McAnuff, and Garath McCleary.

Rodolph Austin, Dane Richards and The Robinson arrived after 8:30 pm, followed by Dwayne Miller, Omar Daley, Tremaine Stewart, Demar Phillips and Jason Morrison.

The Reggae Boyz are scheduled to open their final round of CONCACAF World Cup Qualifying campaign against Mexico at the Azteca Stadium at 8:30 pm (9:30 pm Jamaica time) on Wednesday.

Six countries are competing for three automatic places in the FIFA World Cup Finals in Brazil next summer. The fourth-placed finisher will engage the winner of the Oceania region on a home and away format for the last qualifying place to Brazil.
