KINGSTON, Jamaica — Jamaica will on Friday welcome new air service to Montego Bay when Russia's Norwind Airlines launches its new seasonal flight to the island.

The Russian flight will be arriving at the Sangster International Airport.

This follows the signing of a recent agreement between the Government and the Russian Federation for the waiver of visa requirements for periods not exceeding 90 days per annum.

Operating twice per week from Sheremetyevo Airport in Moscow, the service will run from October 2018 to May 2019.

During the peak winter tourist season, the airline will service the gateway with an airbus, seating 283 passengers.

Minister of Tourism Edmund Bartlett will be on hand to welcome the flight. Also scheduled for the arrival are Director of Tourism Donovan White; chief executive officer MBJ Airports Dr Rafael Echvarne; Mayor of Montego Bay, Homer Davis; and Russian Federation Ambassador to Jamaica Vladimir Nikolaevich Vinokurov.
