KINGSTON, Jamaica - Senior Superintendent of Police James Forbes was fined $800,000 or six months at hard labour when he appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court this morning.

The senior cop was on Friday, May 9 convicted of attempting to pervert the course of justice.

SSP Forbes was charged following a meeting he facilitated at his Oxford Road Kingston office with businessman Bruce Bicknell and two policemen who had ticketed Bicknell for speeding in 2012.

Bicknell was charged along with Forbes but freed on a no-case submission at the end of the prosecution's case earlier this year.
