OCHO RIOS, St Ann — Rohan Alexander, popularly known as ‘Pepe’‚ the coach of the Marcus Garvey Technical High School football team, died in a car crash last evening.
Alexander was travelling with other passengers in a taxi which crashed along the North Coast Highway in the vicinity of Richmond after the driver reportedly swerved to avoid hitting a horse that was crossing the thoroughfare.
The taxi driver lost control of the vehicle, which crashed into an oncoming truck.
According to reports, the driver of the truck was also trying to avoid hitting the animal.
Alexander and other injured passengers in the taxi were rushed to the St Ann’s Bay hospital where he died while undergoing treatment.
Meanwhile, several students who were injured in another crash earlier yesterday near Alexandria, also in St Ann, remain hospitalised.
In that incident, the driver of a mini bus in which the students were travelling, was killed.
