Security guard shot in confrontation with police

KINGSTON, Jamaica — A security guard was shot and injured and a firearm seized during an alleged confrontation with the police last night in Love Lane, central Kingston.

According to reports a police team was on mobile patrol in the area around 11:25 pm when they observed the guard acting in a manner which aroused their suspicions.

The police further reported that lawmen made an attempt to apprehend him, when he pulled a firearm and was subsequently shot in the abdomen and right chest.

He was assisted to the Kingston Public Hospital and has been admitted under police guard.

The firearm, a .38 Taurus revolver, along with six live cartridges was taken from him.
