KINGSTON, Jamaica — A 59-year-old man who is facing three sex charges was yesterday denied bail when he appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court.

The court heard that the accused man’s bail had been previously revoked on charges of rape and indecent assault after the investigator told the court that a third charge was pending.

As a result, he was further remanded into custody and charged with assault with intent to rape yesterday.

When he appeared in court, his attorney, CJ Mitchell, begged Magistrate Georgianna Fraser to re-admit him to bail, citing that he had a serious medical condition, evidenced by his extremely swollen leg.

The magistrate refused.

However, she gave instructions for the accused man to immediately be taken to a doctor at the University Hospital of the West Indies as Mitchell stated that he was of the view that his client would not get the best care for his condition at the Kingston Public Hospital.

The accused was then remanded into custody and is to return to court on September 17.
