TRELAWNY, Jamaica — Six men were taken into police custody on Tuesday night following the seizure of a firearm and three rounds of ammunition during an operation along the Ulster Spring main road in Trelawny.

Reports from the Ulster Spring police are that lawmen were in the area about 9:40pm, when they signalled the driver of a Nissan AD wagon with the six men aboard to stop.

The driver complied and the vehicle along with the men was searched.

During the search, one silver and black Ruger .45 pistol with a magazine containing three .45 rounds of ammunition was discovered, following which all six were taken into custody.

Police say their identities are being withheld pending further investigations.
