OCHO RIOS, St Ann - Deputy Superintendent of Police Dwight Powell, administrative officer for St Ann, said the St Ann police are committed to protecting the people of the parish.

DSP Powell, who displayed some of the many offensive weapons collected over a two year period in the parish, said on Wednesday (January 8) that the police want “to assure law abiding citizens that we (the police) remain committed to the task to ensure that this parish remains the place in which to live, and for people to raise families and carry out business.”

The St Ann senior cop said he said will soon be destroying the hundreds of seized weapons.

“These offensive weapons represent the collective effort of the St Ann police to rid the streets of St Ann of weapons,” Powell said.

He added that the Police was appealing to persons to desist from carrying these weapons.

“We advise persons who are in the habit of tasking offensive weapons to desist from the practice,” he cautioned, adding that the St Ann police had a zero tolerance approach to removing weapons from the streets.
