ST THOMAS, Jamaica — Police have intensified their operations in the St Thomas Division to clamp down on the increase in murders.
Head of the Division, Superintendent Michael Smith says since the start of the year a total of sixteen murders were committed in the eastern parish.
Smith said this was four more than the number committed over the corresponding period last year.
"To clamp down on this development police have put in a number of measures to address the problem," said Smith adding that curfews will be instituted across the parish along with regular foot patrol in specific areas.
