St Catherine woman, cousin to face ganja charges

KINGSTON, Jamaica — A St Catherine woman and her cousin are to face ganja charges when they appear in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court tomorrow, following their arrest at the Norman Manley International Airport on Sunday.

They have been identified as 23-year-old Shaneika Bailey and 20-year-old Miguel Beech, both of Eltham Park, St Catherine.

They were jointly charged on Tuesday with possession of ganja, dealing in ganja and taking steps preparatory to export ganja.

Reports from Narcotics detectives are that about 3:00 pm Bailey and Beech checked in to board a flight destined to the Eastern Caribbean when their luggage was searched and four pounds of compressed ganja found.

The estimated street value of the drug is J$16,000.
