KINGSTON, Jamaica — Scores of residents in the community of Standpipe in St Andrew today staged a protest in to voice their concerns over the frequency at which curfews are being imposed in the area.
"For over two weeks now the police imposing curfews in the area and no crime is taking place we are having a problem with this approach," said one resident in the community.
The woman was one of several persons who gathered across the road from the US embassy.
"No shot nah buss and still the police have we under curfew, our business can't operate we cannot do anything in our community we need it to stop," said another man from the community.
The police are now monitoring the area.
Meanwhile a senior officer on the scene said a meeting is scheduled for this afternoon with head of the St Andrew Central Division, Superintendent Derrick 'Cowboy' Knight.
