YOLA, Nigeria (AFP) — Nigerian police said they have made many arrests Wednesday after a massacre at a student housing area that left at least 40 people dead, with victims shot or having their throats slit.

“We have arrested many suspects in connection with the killings,” said police spokesman Mohammed Ibrahim, declining to give details.

A school official said most of those arrested were students.
