GEORGETOWN, Guyana (CMC) — A man believed to be the main suspect in the murder of a female cop early Thursday in Guyana, has committed suicide.

The police report that the man, Clayton “Woody” Anthony, was found hanging from a tree in the eastern village of Berbice.

According to the Berbice Division Deputy Commander Senior Superintendent, Edmond Cooper, the police were still trying to ascertain the motive for Anthony chopping to death Woman Sergeant, Keneisha Sheriff Fraser.

A cutlass, which is believed to be the murder weapon, was also found in the house.

“We are doing an investigation. Both persons are now deceased. All we have to go now is speculation. It had to be something that caused this,” said Cooper in an interview with Demerara Waves online.

Fraser, the mother of three, was based at the Registry of the Guyana Police Force's Berbice Divisional Headquarters.
