KINGSTON, Jamaica — Tax Administration Jamaica (TAJ) is reminding motorists that traffic ticket penalties can be paid online via the TAJ website.

According to a release from TAJ, motorists can make payment using a valid credit card on the administration's website, www.jamaicatax.gov.jm, instead of visiting a tax office.

TAJ said online payments require customers to enter the traffic ticket number, as well as their driver's licence number for the ticket information to be displayed.

According to the statement, the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF), which has responsibility for data entering the ticket information into the Traffic Ticket Management System (TTMS), has given a commitment that tickets will be uploaded within 10 days of being issued.

Therefore, tickets may not be available for payment online, within the specified 10 days. TAJ advised that customers can also make payments at the nearest tax office.

The administration said the cashier will check if the traffic ticket information has been data entered by the JCF, if not, the cashier will accommodate the entering of the data that is required for the payment to be processed.

Where discrepancies are found in the keying of data, customers will be advised to contact the JCF Traffic Ticket Data Centre.

Customers are reminded to check their receipt before leaving the cashier. The tax administration said payments made online or inline at a tax office are automatically updated on to the central TTMS.

It said tickets can be paid at TAJ, whether online or inline, within 21 days, after which it becomes a Court matter.

TAJ said it will continue to collaborate with the JCF and other critical stakeholders to further improve the TTMS.
