Theatre-shooter to submit palm print and DNA sample
Tuesday, September 25, 2012 | 3:43 PM
CENTENNIAL, Colorado (AP) — A Colorado judge has ordered authorities to collect a palm print and DNA sample from the Aurora theatre-shooting suspect.
Arapahoe County District Judge William B Sylvester issued his order Tuesday. Prosecutors argued last Thursday that they needed the print from 24-year-old James Holmes to compare with a print found on the inside of a theatre exit door, as well as a DNA sample for comparing with other evidence collected by investigators.
Holmes is charged with 152 counts in the July shooting that killed 12 people and wounded 58 others.
On Friday, Sylvester denied Holmes' attorneys' request for sanctions against prosecutors for "reckless disregard for the truth" for statements about threats and being banned from a university campus.
Sylvester issued his order after prosecutors said they submitted evidence supporting their claims.
