WESTMORELAND, Jamaica— Three Honduran men were arrested following the discovery of 656 pounds of compressed ganja, with an estimated value of $2.62 million, in a vessel intercepted off the coast of Westmoreland.

According to the police, the men are 31-year-old Humberto Cirilo, 27-year-old Cristyfor Elliot, and 36-year-old Andes Hopkin all of Guanaja in Honduras.

The men were arrested on November 19, about 9:00 pm, when the Jamaica Defence Force Coast Guard intercepted the vessel off the coast of Negril.

The police said the vessel was searched and the drugs found. The Narcotics Police were then contacted and the men handed over to them.

The men have been jointly charged with possession of ganja, dealing in ganja, taking steps preparatory to export ganja, conspiracy and use of conveyance, the police said.

They are scheduled to appear in the Westmoreland Parish Court on Tuesday, December 3.
