KINGSTON, Jamaica — Traumatised students who witnessed the brutal assault on their grade- six teacher at school yesterday are to receive counselling, school officials said today.

The female teacher was hospitalised after two thugs armed with knives barged into a classroom and beat her, after warning the students to keep quiet.

The attackers fled the school compound after the assault and members of the nearby community of Cassia Park reportedly gave chase, but the perpetrators escaped in a waiting motor car.

A police team has been dispatched at the school.
