KINGSTON, Jamaica - A group of school children today narrowly missed injury after a truck crashed into a light pole sending it crashing on Maxfield Avenue.

Residents in the area report that the incident took place about 12:00 midday.

"The truck was travelling along the road when it ran into the electric pole," said one woman.

The woman claimed that a group of school children were walking in the area when the incident happened.

"If it was not for a man who shouted to the children they would have been injured," said the woman.

Jamaica Public Service workmen are now on the scene replacing the downed pole.

Last week in another incident a utility pole fell on a car crushing it and sending the occupants to hospital.
