Two arrested after cops seize firearms in Westmoreland

KINGSTON, Jamaica — Two persons have been taken into custody in relation to the seizure of two firearms and several rounds of ammunition in Chinester, Westmoreland yesterday.

Police report that one M16 rifle with 10 5.56 cartridges and a Smith and Wesson pistol containing two cartridges were found along with electronic devices suspected to have been used in the illicit lottery scamming activities.

A Toyota Avensis motor car was also seized.

Reports from the Savanna-la-mar police are that the firearm and other items were found in a house which was searched during an operation about 5:00 am.

Their names have been withheld pending further investigations.

Police said the men will be questioned in the presence of their attorney.
