UPDATE: Hanover crash death toll at five

HANOVER, Jamaica — The police have confirmed that five people succumbed to injuries they received in a motor vehicle crash along the Hopewell main road in Hanover last night.

The five include 28-year-old Joseph Brown, Phillip Jones, and Nicholas French of Green Pond, St James. The two other deceased remain unidentified, while two others were admitted to hospital.

Reports from the Lucea police are that about 10:15 pm, a grey Toyota Corolla with five people aboard and a white Toyota Corolla with two people were travelling in opposite directions along the mentioned main road.

It is reported that the driver of the grey Toyota Corolla motor car lost control of the vehicle which swerved to the right and collided with the white Corolla.

Both vehicles were extensively damaged and seven people were taken to the hospital, where five were pronounced dead and two admitted.
