HANOVER, Jamaica — The two children who were this morning chopped to death along with their mother in Green Island, Hanover have been identified as eight-year-old Jayanna Coote and her four-year-old sister Shanique Coote.

The two were reportedly at their father's house when their mother, 38-year-old Abanique Cunningham, made her routine visit around 7:00 am to prepare them for school.

Police reports are that an altercation developed between the parents and during this time a machete was used to chop Cunningham and the children repeatedly. The woman, who lived elsewhere, was said to be pregnant.

The father, who is a suspect in the incident, has been taken into custody.
