UPDATE: Teen victim in Manchester crash identified

MANCHESTER, Jamaica — The police have identified the young woman who was killed in a motor vehicle collision on the New Green main road in Manchester this morning.

She is 19-year-old Junique Chung of Fuertado Drive in Mandeville, Manchester.

Reports from the police's Corporate Communications Unit (CCU) are that about 2:30 am, the driver of a Mitsubishi Lancer motor car travelling towards Mandeville collided with the rear of a Nissan Tiida motorcar travelling in the same direction while attempting to overtake the Nissan Tiida motorcar.

As a result of the impact, the driver of the Nissan Tiida allegedly lost control of the motor vehicle and crashed into a utility pole. Chung who was a passenger in the Nissan Tiida motorcar was thrown from the vehicle.

The CCU said she sustained several injuries and was taken to hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The driver of the Nissan Tiida and another passenger remain in hospital.

The driver of the Mitsubishi Lancer motor car was treated and released. He has been warned for prosecution.
