ST JAMES, Jamaica — MBJ Airports Limited says it plans to spend US$29 million in 2019 and US$112 million over the next five years on infrastructure improvements at Sangster International Airport (SIA), here.

This is in addition to the US$230m spent between 2003 and 2018, a statement from MBJ, operators of SIA said today.

“We are at a very interesting point in the airport's ongoing development and we're making great progress as we transform the infrastructure, systems and service to that of a world-class facility, while simultaneously creating a uniquely Jamaican “Irie Airport Experience,” MBJ Airports' Chief Executive Officer Rafael Echevarne said in a statement on the official opening for the newly renovated ticketing concourse at SIA, last Friday.

“The refurbishment of the ticketing hall is a very visible part of MBJ's tireless commitment to making Sangster International Airport as safe, user-friendly and efficient as humanly possible,” Echevarne added.
