KINGSTON, Jamaica — The US government has donated four auxiliary vessels with supplies and equipment to the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF).

According to the US Embassy of Jamaica, two 38-foot Defender Safe Boats and two 37-foot Justice Boston Whalers have been donated.

"These vessels will help to keep our citizens and our borders safe," the Ministry of National Security said in a tweet today.

Charge d'Affaires Eric Khant, while speaking at the official handing over ceremony, said, "border security is Jamaica's top priority".

"With these additional boats Jamaica will have the largest maritime presence in the Caribbean," he added.

The ceremony is currently ongoing at the Port Royal Naval Base in Kingston.
