KINGSTON, Jamaica — Member of Parliament (MP) for West Portland Daryl Vaz today indicated that he will be nominating former hotelier, the late Earl Levy for next year's national honours and awards.

Vaz, who was speaking at the thanksgiving service for Levy, said that the nomination would be for the Order of Distinction in the rank of Commander (Posthumous) for his outstanding contribution to tourism, particularly to the parish of Portland.

Although Levy is now deceased, Vaz said he believes that it would be remiss that his contribution is not recognised.

He added that Levy's legacy lives on in the establishment of the Trident Villas and the Trident Castle, properties which are landmarks of Portland and which have helped to earn tourism revenue for the parish.

Vaz further noted that Trident has attracted a number of celebrities to the luxurious property and by extension put Portland on the map as a high end tourism destination.

The MP expressed condolence to Levy's family and friends on the loss of one who made a significant contribution to the growth of the tourism product of the parish.
