KINGSTON, Jamaica — Guitarist Winston “Bo Pee” Bowen, a stalwart musician who worked with reggae music's elite artistes, died here today at age 62.

His son, Jeovannie Bowen, told the OBSERVER ONLINE that his father suffered a heart attack at home and died shortly after at Medical Associates Hospital in Kingston.

The bespectacled Bowen started his career in the mid-1970s, first recording at Channel One studio. He then became a member of noted bands such as Lloyd Parks and We The People, 809 and the Firehouse Crew, touring with artistes such as Dennis Brown, Ziggy Marley and Luciano.

In recent years, Bowen recorded and toured with the Inna Di Yard group and was a member of U Roy's band.

Bowen is survived by his wife Lorna, six children and eight grandchildren.
