KINGSTON, Jamaica — Thirty-three-year-old Gary Williams, a wrecker driver of a Kingston 19 address was on Friday convicted in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate Court, after he pleaded guilty to a charge of perverting the course of justice.
Reports are that some time in November 2011, the police seized a vehicle and Williams was tasked to transport it to the pound. It is alleged that Williams, unknowing to the Police personnel, solicited $10, 000 from the driver of the motor vehicle to have the car released.
The Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) was contacted, and after releasing the car, Williams was immediately arrested.
He was fined $200, 000 or 12 months imprisonment at hard labour for his crime.
