KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Electoral Commission of Jamaica (ECJ) has recommended Glasspole Brown to the Governor General for appointment as director of elections.

Brown was appointed to act in the post on April 16 following the resignation of former director of elections, Orrette Fisher, in mid-March.

The ECJ said its recommendation comes after a selection process open to internal and external applicants.

Brown, who has extensive experience in public administration, served for nine years as assistant director of elections with responsibility for administration, prior to which heoccupied senior management positions in the public and private sectors.

Commenting on the announcement, Dorothy Pine-McLarty, Chairman of the ECJ, said that she's pleased with Brown's selection.

“Mr Brown is a fine son of this Jamaican soil and each of the other Commissioners and I wholeheartedly recommend his appointment as Director. I am satisfied that the Electoral Office of Jamaica is in good hands."
