Minor earthquake rocks BVI

TORTOLA, British Virgin Islands (CMC) — A relatively minor earthquake, measuring 4.26 was felt in sections of the British Virgin Islands on Saturday.

The Puerto Rico Seismic Network reports that the tremor was located approximately 13 miles north of Virgin Gorda.

The earthquake that occurred shortly after 10:00 am (local time), was pinpointed at latitude 18.82 and longitude-64.34, with a depth of approximately 30 kilometres.

There were no reports of injuries or damage.

Meanwhile, the Department of Disaster Management (DDM) reminded residents that the territory is located in a seismically active zone and urged them to remain calm in the event of future earthquakes.
