Dear Editor,

In the cover story "Hell in the House: Parliament ends sitting in confusion, disorder" published on July 4 in the Jamaica Observer, you highlighted an incident that took place at last Tuesday's sitting of the House.

You erroneously cite the clerk to the houses as having instructed the marshal to the houses to take particular actions against Mr William Hutchinson, member for St Elizabeth North Western. Parts of your story also give the impression that the marshal took it upon himself to eject the member for St Elizabeth North Western from the Chamber. We wish to make clear that the marshal was acting on the instructions of the deputy speaker, who was presiding at the time, and that the clerk was not a part of the chain of events covered in your story.
