Did we elect three blind mice?
Dear Editor,
I write with reference to the Auditor general’s report concerning huge sums of money paid out to individuals contracted to the Port Authority of Jamaica.
We seem to have elected three blind mice. The former prime minister did not see the evil. The former minister of finance did not hear of the evil. And the former minister in charge of the Port Authority will not speak to the evil.
Let us now see whether the existing Government will "follow fashion" or whether they will demand accountability, which should include the return of the public’s money, disqualification from any present or future government office and, if there is dishonesty, some jail time.
To "promise tighter policing of public funds amid disturbing audits" is not good enough. The state of affairs is unacceptable and insulting.
