Dear Editor,

The furore about alleged statements by President of Zimbabwe Robert Mugabe regarding Jamaicans is one that I believe we should hastily bury without offering it the dignity of public debate. And amidst the widespread call for the prime minister to comment on issues affecting us as a country - this isn't one of them - trust me.

Madam Prime Minister, the only embarrassment that we would face in this situation is if we respond to the allegation. Based on the reports, I believe we have already said too much, and I am mad with us for that. If there are economic opportunities that we can exploit in Zimbabwe, let's do that. If not, then let's deal with the real problems we have.
