EOJ has no headaches

Wednesday, October 24, 2012

Dear Editor,

The Electoral Office wishes to state categorically that it is having no headaches over the 2011 census report as stated in the Jamaica Observer of October 23.

The office is in no position to comment on the methodology, accuracy or overall results of the census. What it is prepared to state, however, is that for every elector on the voters' list there is:

* A name

*An address

* Fingerprint record

*A photograph

*Residence verification at the time of registration.

There are a number of electors who, since registering, may have moved, died or migrated. It is the extent of these changes which needs to be verified in analysing the differences between the two data sets.
