Letters to the Editor
Fix the roads
Wednesday, October 24, 2012
Dear Editor,
The purpose of this letter is to bring to public attention a pothole on Tobago Avenue in New Kingston which almost caused the collapse of the front end of my car on Saturday evening.
That pothole was definitely not there the day before and there has been no significant rainfall in the area, so I can only attribute this crater-like hole to poor workmanship or inferior materials, or both.
I am aware that some road patching was done in New Kingston only a few weeks ago, but if this is the outcome of that programme, I would ask Minister of Transport and Works Omar Davies to ensure that taxpayers' money is not wasted on shoddy work.
Indeed, the roads in prime residential and commercial areas are in a terrible condition and priority should be given to repairing them. Never before have I seen Jamaican roads in such a state.
