Dear Editor,
The call for the Jamaican Diaspora to be allowed to vote in national elections in Jamaica is the call for accountability and good governance. Yet, the call is seen as a disruptive measure because the two political dynasties are afraid of the impact diaspora voting would have on the electoral process.

Our politicians know very well that a mature and informed electorate would never tolerate the level of ineptitude that is on display daily in the Jamaican political arena.

We need to establish a real political force that is capable of articulating the need for diaspora voting. This force must be independent of the political dynasties in place in Jamaica.

Sadly, our Government is only concerned with maintaining the current state of desperation at the expense of the vast majority of the population.

We need to also look at remittances as a leverage in order to let our comrades understand the importance of our Diaspora from a purely economic vantage point while reinforcing the political innovation that the Diaspora could help to establish. The main innovation would be good governance.
